Mr. Ward has been a practicing GIS professional for over 20 years, five of which he served as the GIS Manager for the Pima County Department of Transportation (PCDOT). As principal of TSSW, Mr. Ward has conducted hundreds of GIS support projects for both public and private organizations, ranging from simple data acquisition and conversion to complex application development. Mr. Ward graduated from Humboldt State University with a Bachelors degree in Natural Resources Planning and from the University of Arizona with an MBA with an emphasis in MIS and Marketing.
Howard has been an ArcGIS/ArcInfo user since 1988 and has logged thousands of hours in front of the software. He is an expert in ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and Spatial Analyst. and has programmed numerous GIS applications to speed repetitive data conversion operations, and complex, multi-step analyses. Mr. Ward maintains TerraSystem’s internal SQL Server geodatabase, image server with state-wide and project imagery services, and ArcGIS Server with several address-matching and interactive mapping services.
Mr. Ward is active in several statewide GIS professional organizations and has developed an extensive network of public and private GIS contacts throughout Arizona and the United States. Mr. Ward is currently the private sector representative to the Arizona Geographic Information Council a legislatively-authorized body coordinating GIS activities across the State of Arizona. He is also past president of the Arizona Chapter of the Geospatial Information Technology Association (GITA) and helps organize and host local GIS user group events |

Ms. Thurman has been a practicing GIS professional since 1996. Prior to co-founding TSSW, she was employed by Pima Association of Governments (PAG) as a Water Quality Planner/Hydrologist and GIS Specialist. Over the course of five years with PAG, Ms. Thurman conducted various regional water quality planning projects as well as hydrologic studies in Pima County, AZ. Ms. Thurman was instrumental in bringing GIS into the PAG organization. As a Principal in TSSW, she provides technical GIS and strategic planning support for governmental agencies, planning and engineering firms, non-profit groups, as well as other for-profit entities. She has managed scores of projects involving data acquisition, creation, and conversion, as well as created high quality cartographic products and graphic displays. Ms. Thurman graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s in Geosciences with an emphasis in Hydrology.
Ms. Thurman has been ESRI ArcMap/ArcInfo and AutoCAD user since 1994. She is proficient with all components of the ArcGIS Desktop Suite through the current version. Her skills include data conversion and quality control, high-end cartography, spatial analysis, and database design and management. She is also experienced in project management, especially as it pertains to the development and implementation of workflows. |
