TerraSystems has been involved in a number of interesting and challenging projects, since its inception in 1998. Below are some links to highlights of these projects, with explanations of key challenges included.
NASA Spatial Growth Model Project Since February 1999, TerraSystems has provided Avenue/ArcView application services to the NASA Global Climate Change and Sustainability Program located at Prescott College. This link takes you to an explanation of this project and the model.
Arizona State Land Department Data/Metadata Conversion - Marana Area From January to July 2000, TerraSystems completed data and metadata conversion services on two Arizona State Land Department Master Plan Projects: one for the Peoria area and one for the Marana area. This link takes you to some highlights of the Marana area project, including an explanation of our approach and a portion of the final CD that was delivered.
Tucson Water GIS Strategic Plan Project In the Spring of 1999, TerraSystems led an intensive, 4-month effort to define needs and develop a GIS Strategic Plan for the City of Tucson Water Department. This link takes you to the web pages web developed to organize and communicate our efforts on that project.
Tucson Water Valve Map Conversion Report In the Spring of 1999, TerraSystems worked with the Mapping and Records group at Tucson Water to develop a data conversion plan for their 1,400 plus valve maps. This link takes you to the web pages web developed to organize and communicate our efforts on that project.
Midtown Neighborhood GIS In 1997, Howard Ward began a volunteer project in the Midtown Neighborhood to determine if and how GIS might be used by local residents to more actively communicate with and participate in city government affairs. The project has been on hold for over a year, due to time constraints on the part of volunteers and Howard, alike. A lesson learned is that GIS is a full-time job, even at the neighborhood level. However, as GIS matures in the City departments, this project may be resurrected and re-directed to support those efforts. This link takes you to the preliminary web page that was created for the site.
